Automatic Bill Pay
The CBPU shall make available to its customers an automated payment plan for payment of utilities. The initial request from a service holder shall be in the form of a written agreement. The payment plan may be established for an indefinite period or for a specified period of time. The CBPU reserves the right to terminate from this plan any and all parties who do not comply with the terms of the written agreement. Any account which incurs two returned electronic funds transfer transactions in a twelve-month period may be removed from the plan and may be ineligible for reinstatement. Automated payment plans shall terminate upon payment of final bill. Automated payment plans can be terminated at any time upon the request of the customer.
Drop Box Location
We have a payment drop box conveniently located in our Monroe Street Parking Lot. We check our drop box at 8:00 a.m. and at 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Here are a few friendly reminders when paying in the drop box:
Do not pay in cash when using the drop box. Use check or money order only please.
- Make sure you seal your check or money order in an envelope with the remittance statement. If you do not have the remittance statement, please include either your customer account number or your service address so we can ensure your payment is posted to the correct account.
- If you are concerned about getting a payment posted to your account immediately or resetting services, please bring your payment inside.
Equal Payment Plan
The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities shall make available to qualified customers an equal payment plan for payment of utilities, except certain telecommunications services. The equal payment plan shall be available only when a history of usage and payments, for any service location, for a period of not less than nine months has been established.
To enroll in the equal payment plan:
- The account must be current at the time of the agreement;
- The account must be enrolled in our automatic payment plan to ensure the agreed amount is paid monthly.
The equal payment plan shall be reviewed
periodically but at least annually. Adjustments to equal payment plan
payments may be made as deemed necessary. The CBPU reserves the right to
terminate from the plan any and all parties who do not comply with the terms
of the plan agreement.

Round Up Program
The CBPU Round Up Program is an affordable way to help families in our community who are in need.
How our Round Up Program differs slightly from other types of programs that donate change to a specific cause or organization in a community. It will be administered by the Salvation Army, which screens applicants and determines eligibility. There are no administration fees used to support the program and every dollar collected assists only CBPU customers with electric, water and sewer utility services.
Signing up and participating in the Round Up Program is simple. Just tell us you’d like to start in the program and your next utility bill will ‘round’ to the next highest dollar. As an example, if your utility bill was 136.27, you would be billed 137.00 and your donation for that month would be 73 cents.
We encourage our customers to participate in this program. We estimate the average cost to a customer would be around $6.00. Of course, the most you could donate in a month would be 99 cents and in an entire year would be $11.88.
Pay in Person
We are located at One Grand Street in the Henry L. Brown Municipal Building - just north of the intersection of Chicago Street and Marshall Street in the center of the city of Coldwater. Our office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist you with service orders, account information and payments. The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities continuously strives to provide our customers with quality customer service.
