[ARCHIVED] CBPU Water Department Updating Water Infrastructure

Water Treatment Plant

The CBPU Water Department is updating water infrastructure around the City of Coldwater today, Tuesday, August 9th, 2022. Crews will be changing out a Fire Hydrant at U.S. 12 and Marshall St. Also, crews will be working on a water main at Perkins and Elm St. This work may cause discolored water. Discolored water results from mineral deposits that are stirred up and flushed through the system. Customers experiencing discolored water are encouraged to complete the following steps:

- Slowly begin running cold water out of the faucet.

- Let the water run for 20 minutes. If the water is still brown, repeat the process.

- If the water does not become clear after this process, please call the CBPU at (517) 279-9531.

During this time, customers may want to refrain from doing their laundry, as it may cause discoloration/staining of their clothes or household items. The CBPU Water Department estimates that they will be complete, and water should return to normal by tomorrow morning. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities at (517) 279-9531. Thank you.
