The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities recently upgraded 155 lamps on Chicago St. (U.S. 12) with LED lights. The lamps that were upgraded span from E. Clay St. to Wright St. Of these lamps, the CBPU replaced 101 lamps with 150 Watt HPS (High-Pressure Sodium) bulbs to 80 Watt LEDs (Light Emitting Diode). The other 54 lamps were upgraded from 250 Watt HPS to 120 Watt LEDs. The CBPU estimates that these changes will result in annual kWh savings of approximately 82,000 kWh and estimated annual energy and labor savings of $13,900.
