Coldwater, Michigan. January 17, 2022 – The City of Coldwater's Downtown Development Authority (DDA) launched a community survey that will be available to the public through February 4th. The purpose of the survey is to obtain feedback on the Downtown Coldwater area and consists of questions such as "What three business types would you like to see more of in Downtown Coldwater?". The DDA predicts that the survey will take 5 minutes to complete and can be accessed on the City's website, through social media posts, or a QR code featured on promotional material in the Downtown area. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Arabic.
As part of the Michigan Main Street (MMS) Select Level Program, the DDA is working alongside Main Street staff to complete a baseline assessment for the district and understand our community’s vision for the downtown. The DDA will use the results from the community survey to create transformation strategies that will impact downtown development efforts in the years to come. Updated market data for the region, and feedback from several key stakeholder groups, will also serve as the basis for the strategies. “The community survey is a key piece in developing transformation strategies for the downtown. Understanding what our community wants to see and what our local market can support will ensure that these strategies are practical and wanted. Over time, our goal is to help develop a downtown that better serves area residents, business owners, families, volunteers, students, pedestrians, and visitors. Seeking feedback from these key groups is critical to helping make that happen,” said Brad Rockey, Board Chair. On February 23rd at 5:30 PM, the strategies designed for the Downtown Coldwater area will be presented to the public. Details surrounding the presentation will be made available on the City of Coldwater’s website and the City of Coldwater and Downtown Coldwater Facebook page at a later date.
