Coldwater, Michigan. September 8, 2017 – Six employees from the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Electric Department will travel south, heading to Tallahassee, Florida to assist with the inevitable loss of power caused by Hurricane Irma. Journeyman Linemen Steve Barone and Jory Watson, Apprentice Linemen Eric Green and Jarret Wolford, and Service Electricians Kerry Skinner and Glen Raymond volunteered to assist when Coldwater got the call for mutual aid assistance. These six will represent the organization, although several other employees volunteered to go. The CBPU crews will depart from Coldwater on Saturday morning, September 9th, 2017 and will be staying to help with restoration efforts for a total of 10 days.
Paul Beckhusen, CBPU Director met with the six staff members on Friday to review safety measures and discuss the logistics of the trip. Beckhusen stated to the crew, “I express a tremendous amount of gratitude to everyone from our organization that volunteered when that request became a call to action yesterday. I am very proud of all of our employees and the commitment you have to the public power roots of our organization. You have my upmost respect and you are the DNA of our organization.”
