On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the City of Coldwater will have a general election. Residents will be able to vote at the Dearth Community Center. Polling stations are open from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM. This year’s ballot will contain voting on City Council offices and local school proposals. The City Council offices that will be voted on include the Mayor and Councilmembers for all 4 wards. Our candidate for Mayor is Thomas Kramer, the incumbent. He is running unopposed. Likewise, all candidates for a Councilmember position are running unopposed. Candidates for a Councilmember position include:

  • Travis Machan (Ward 1)

  • Jim Knaack (Ward 2)

  • Michael Beckwith (Ward 3)

  • Randall Hazelbaker (Ward 4)

The other items on the ballot include two local school proposals. The first proposal focuses on high school modernization and site upgrades. This proposal will cost $50 million dollars and is not expected to increase taxes. It will cover a new main office entry, a classroom addition, building-wide AC, a dedicated STEM/lab space, and more. The second proposal is for a 950 seat performing arts facility. This facility is expected to cost $17 million dollars and is expected to have a +0.39 Mill increase. The benefits of having this performing arts center will include arts programming that supports district-wide performing and providing a large event space for school and community use.
