On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the City of Coldwater will have a general election. Residents will be able to vote at the Dearth Community Center. Polling stations are open from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM. This year’s ballot will contain voting on City Council offices and local school proposals. The City Council offices that will be voted on include the Mayor and Councilmembers for all 4 wards. Our candidate for Mayor is Thomas Kramer, the incumbent. He is running unopposed. Likewise, all candidates for a Councilmember position are running unopposed. The other items on the ballot include two local school proposals. The first proposal focuses on high school modernization and site upgrades. This proposal will cost $50 million dollars and is not expected to increase taxes. It will cover a new main office entry, a classroom addition, building-wide AC, a dedicated STEM/lab space, and more. The second proposal is for a 950 seat performing arts facility. This facility is expected to cost $17 million dollars and is expected to have a +0.39 Mill increase. The benefits of having this performing arts center will include arts programming that supports district-wide performing and providing a large event space for school and community use.
