The Downtown Coldwater Outdoor Refreshment Area allows refreshments in public spaces on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST.
Some exceptions to this include special events that have been approved for special hours of operations. Check out their web page for upcoming events and hours!
All alcoholic beverages must be served in a designated Social District container and purchased from one of our approved, participating businesses within the Social District.
To find the most up-to-date list of participating businesses, take a look at the list to your right. And when you're downtown, be on the lookout! Participating businesses will display window decals, and QR codes posted throughout the district will point you to more information.
Leaving the district boundary with an alcoholic beverage is against both local and state law. Check the map below to make sure you’re familiar with the boundaries and look for signs throughout the district.
You may not take drinks served at one location into another bar or restaurant, or onto their patio space.
Some non-alcohol serving businesses located within the boundary may choose to allow you to enter their establishment with drinks – check for signage or ask if you’re uncertain.
Please treat others and businesses within our community with respect, and drink responsibly. All State of Michigan and City of Coldwater laws apply, including those prohibiting public intoxication, impaired driving, and serving alcohol to minors. We recommend keeping the receipt on hand for any to-go drinks that you purchase.

If the street is closed to all vehicle traffic with the exception of emergency vehicles. Temporary Commons Areas, special hours of operation, and requests for additional waste management services will be reviewed and approved by the City in conjunction with the standard event application. Sufficient notice will be required in order to coordinate with Public Safety and Social District permit-holders regarding the updated hours of operation for the district.
Some permanent/fixed district signage may include a QR code link to a webpage where information regarding the Social District will be available, including planned alterations to the Social District Commons areas and hours of operation.
