Department for Community Engagement

Previously called the Marketing Department, the Department for Community Engagement is a shared department between the City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU). The Department for Community Engagement works closely with the City / CBPU to build relationships and engage with citizens, customers, and businesses within the City of Coldwater.

The department is responsible for the following:

  • Working with the City Manager and the Utility Director to release all formal communication from the organizations
    • Including social media, press releases, push notifications, notes on bills, letters, surveys, award submissions, and information on this website. 
  • Overseeing Sponsorships and Donations
    • Sponsorship and Donation requests are reviewed by the Sponsorship Committee every month. Funds are provided by the CBPU. The committee provides a recommendation to the Utility Director, and a final decision is made. Organizations are notified by their preferred method of communication.  
  • Creating Multimedia Content 
    • Including graphics, photos, and videos for social media posts, the City Calendar, bill stuffers, flyers, brochures, advertisements, slide show presentations, and more. 
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives
    • Organize, measure, and track community impact through employee volunteer hours and monetary donations.
    • Arrange volunteer opportunities for City & CBPU employees. 
  • Event Assistance 
    • Collaborate with the Recreation Department to market Strawberry Fest / Apple Fest / Winter Fest 
    • Plan and execute City and CBPU events; create partnerships within the community.
    • Provide recommendations to create new events and improve existing City/CBPU events. 
  • Other tasks as assigned

  • 01.28.2023 - CBPU sponsored the Coldwater Recreation Department's 2023 Winter Fest; CBPU employees volunteered to man the booth
  • 01.28.2023 - CBPU sponsored the Coldwater Athletic Booster's 80's Party
  • 02.27.2023 - CBPU sent mutual aid to Hillsdale, Michigan for Storm (Ice Storm) Restoration Efforts
  • 03.05.2023 - CBPU Donated a Purse to the Branch County United Way's Power of the Purse Event
  • 03.13.2023 - CBPU visited Jefferson Elementary School for our first "March is Reading Month" school visit
  • 03.15.2023 - CBPU visited Max Larsen Elementary School for another "March is Reading Month" school visit 
  • 03.15.2023 - The City/CBPU participated in a Career Fair at Trine University 
  • 03.22.2023 - 6 Employees from the City/CBPU participated in the Branch County United Way's United We Read Event
  • 03.23.2023 - CBPU visited Pansophia Academy for our last "March is Reading Month" school visit
  • 04.01.2023 - CBPU sent mutual aid to Wapakoneta, Ohio for Storm (Tornado) Restoration Efforts
  • 04.05.2023 - CBPU sponsored the Branch County Deputy Sheriff Association's basketball game against Detroit Lions Legends
  • 04.14.2023 - CBPU arranged for Engineering students from Trine University to tour generator sites and learn about careers in Public Power. 
  • 04.21.2023 - CBPU employees volunteered to help clean up the old side of Oak Grove Cemetery
  • 04.22.2023 - CBPU sponsored Coldwater High School's Afterglow (After-Prom) event
  • 04.27.2023 - The City partnered with a 3rd Grade class at Pansophia Academy to clean-up Parkhurst Park
  • 04.27.2023 - The City's Public Safety Department attended the BACC's Career Fair 
  • 04.29.2023 - CBPU sponsored the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence's Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event
  • 05.09.2023 - CBPU's Electric Department & the City's Public Safety Department attended the BACC's Kids Consider College & Careers Event
  • 05.18.2023 - CBPU sponsored the Coach Eby Youth & Family Center's Flannel & Denim All American Banquet
  • 05.18.2023 - The City helped BIGGBY arrange a service day for 2 volunteers at Oak Grove Cemetery; helped plant endowed flowers

  • 06.26.2023 - The City & CBPU hosted their first blood drive with the American Red Cross 
  • 08. - The CBPU sponsored Hops on Monroe; Pilsner Sponsorship 
  • 08. - CBPU sponsored an Entertainment Under the Stars concert; Pomegranate Whisky Band
